Hatrobot (Chris Bodily) & Heather Romney: Strange News From Another Star

An Illustration & Photography Exhibit at the Downtown Artist Collective

Next month, the Downtown Artist Collective will present a simultaneous opening of two artist solos, from illustrator Chris Bodily and photographer Heather Romney.

Chris Bodily has been illustrating under the moniker Hatrobot for over fifteen years. Inspired by cartoons, comic books, tattoos, and graffiti, his Pop Surrealist work combines playful whimsy with sinister darkness inspired by cartoons, comic books, tattoos, and graffiti.

Chris is the recipient of the 2015 Utah Arts Festival People’s Choice Award. Additionally he has received two Del Close Awards, a City Weekly Arty Award, an Indie Ogden Award, and was named one of Ogden’s 40 Under 40.

Since graduating with a BFA in Photography in 2014, Heather Romney has been creating large-scale, emotional and conceptual photography and film that largely deals with issues of mental health, depression and anxiety.

Using Carl Jung’s study of alchemy as a psychological framework for the subconscious and the Hermann Hesse fairy tale of the same name, “Strange News From Another Star” invites viewers into an exploration of Jungian concepts interweaved with Hesse’s fairy tale using the beautiful and desolate landscapes of Iceland and Utah.
